Prilog vs manual coding-agent workflows
Understand how Prilog connects production intake, investigation, and PR review, and how it works with a coding agent.
What does Prilog add to a coding-agent workflow?
A manually operated coding agent can help investigate supplied errors and edit a repository. Prilog provides a product workflow for bringing production evidence or supported issue reports into investigation, tracking the outcome, and preparing a pull request under project settings. You can operate Prilog from a coding agent through its CLI and shared skill, or use an authorized hosted MCP connection.
This is a comparison of workflows, not a claim that every coding agent lacks monitoring, integrations, or automation. Capabilities depend on the product and configuration you use.
Compare the work around the patch
| Question | Prilog workflow | Manually operated coding agent |
|---|---|---|
| Where does evidence enter? | Connected production source, OTLP, log upload, or supported public issue import. | The developer supplies evidence or configures tools to retrieve it. |
| How does work start? | Explicit request or configured project automation. | A prompt, assignment, or an automation configured around the agent. |
| How is progress inspected? | Project/error state, analysis outcome, generated diff, and PR link. | Agent output and whatever task or repository tracking is configured. |
| Where does review happen? | Before publication in Prilog or on an automatically created PR, according to settings. | In the agent environment and repository review process. |
| Can they work together? | The shared skill and CLI or MCP expose the Prilog workflow to an assistant. | An agent can invoke Prilog when installed or connected and authorized. |
Replace the repeated copy-and-paste loop
Connect the application's code and production evidence once, then use automatic bug fixing or OpenTelemetry to pull request. For a selected failure, prilog ingest ./production-errors.log uploads the supplied file to the intended project. Inspect the error and outcome instead of rebuilding the context in each chat.
If your current agent already retrieves telemetry, maps repositories, tracks work, and reliably produces reviewed fixes, compare Prilog against that existing setup. Measure the operating work saved as well as patch correctness.
Use Prilog from an assistant
The plugin guide covers terminal-based agents and hosted clients. Directory submissions are awaiting approval; direct CLI use and supported OAuth MCP connections are separate access routes. The hosted connector operates on existing authorized projects and repositories.
Ask an authorized assistant to list errors in a named project, inspect one, request analysis, review its diff, and create a PR when requested. See MCP scopes and tools for the actual contract. The connector does not merge or deploy.
Evaluate on your own workload
Compare representative failures with the same diagnostic evidence, repository environment, and review criteria. Track accepted fixes, reviewer effort, human edits, and total cost. Read the public fix examples and benchmark methodology as separate evidence, then start with one service.
