# Python setup guide

Set up Python with Prilog using documented prerequisites, installation, configuration, verification, and review steps.

## Agent-assisted setup

Use curl to download, read and follow https://prilog.ai/docs/setup/python.md to connect this repository to Prilog. Keep API keys in environment variables and ask before publishing a PR.

## Prerequisites

Python 3.9 or later, a Prilog account, and a connected repository. Public PyPI publishing awaits organization approval; the Python setup tab is temporarily hidden.

## Install

Use the public runtime archive in the [Python SDK guide](/docs/python/#availability-and-installation). Do not assume the package is on PyPI.

## Configure

Create a monitoring connection and keep its DSN in `PRILOG_DSN`. Follow [initialization and shutdown](/docs/python/#initialize-before-application-imports).

## Verify

Inspect incoming telemetry in Prilog for the configured service. If no data arrives, follow [monitoring troubleshooting](/docs/troubleshooting/#no-monitoring-data-arrives).

## Next Steps

Read the [full Python reference](/docs/python/), then [generate and review a fix](/docs/quickstart/). Review the diff and CI before merging.
